Coaching Healthy Habits

Helping coaches promote healthy behaviors with youth athletes

We know coaches play a big role in helping kids be healthy both on and off the field. So, NCYS is asking our member organizations to promote simple health behaviors that can impact not only athletes, but coaches and families as well. Follow these three steps to help your athletes drink right, snack smart, and move more!

  1. Share Coaching Healthy Habits training video with all your coaches. This short training highlights simple ways coaches can promote healthy habits at their next practice. You can even embed the training on your own website or social media channels.

  2. Distribute these educational materials to help coaches and parents support healthy players:

  3. Create a healthy concession stand using the 3 Steps to a Healthier Concession Stand handout.
  4. Make a plan to get your coaches on board! Print out our Coaching Healthy Habits Flyer and follow the steps to quickly get started.

Coaching Healthy Habits is an evidence-based set of resources aimed at promoting healthier youth sports. NCYS collaborated with Healthy Kids Out of School, an initiative of ChildObesity180 at Tufts University, to bring these resources to our member organizations.
