"If You think, act, play like a champion... You will be a champion"

The Worcester County Pop Warner Football and Cheer program has been in existence for nearly forty years. It is a member of the Henlopen Conference, Eastern Region and the National Pop Warner program. We are a non-profit organization run solely by volunteers. The association is composed of seven football teams and four cheer squads; inclusive of both male and female athletes. The children range in ages from five to fifteen years. This year we have over 250 participants in our ever growing program; which is the largest association in our conference. Our mission is to provide a safe, structured, fun-filled program which encourages a healthy lifestyle, community involvement, and good sportsmanship; all while supporting scholastic achievements. Our athletes must maintain a 2.0 GPA while participating in the program.

There are no tryouts for our teams; so all children who register will play. We do not allow financial issues to hinder a child's opportunity to participate in our program. Living in a rural, underserved community, we frequently have families that struggle to meet the costs required to participate in football or cheer. We have families who have multiple children in our program. We do offer additional sibling discounts and attempt to find sponsors for children with financial challenges. Otherwise the organization absorbs the costs.

Our program has designated Player Safety Coaches who are specifically trained to oversee and provide instruction to volunteers and parents related to concussion protocols, Heads Up Football, heat and hydration precautions. We partner with a local physical therapy facility which offers free baseline concussion screenings to our players at the beginning of the season. Volunteer coaches are required to obtain a coaches certification, as well as CPR, AED, first aid and submit to a background check. Football and cheer coaches attend instructional clinics to learn the best practice techniques to instruct our children.

As a testament to our association, we have volunteers that have been dedicated and influential in our program for many years. Our program's leadership is highly respected in and around the community. The President of our Board, Tony Morris; has been recognized as a 2014 Jefferson Award Winner as well as 2013 Volunteer of the Year. This is a place where families and children are connected to one another and the community; taking great pride in our program.

Our program has had several conference, regional and nationally recognized academic scholars. Our football teams have won conference and regional titles, while our cheer squads have placed at the National competition in Orlando.

This program partners with our community businesses and organizations, with volunteers fundraising tirelessly to make this the best experience for all children. With our ever-growing numbers, our needs for updated equipment and financial assistance for our youth increases. We are BERLIN PROUD and grateful to have this opportunity to show our program spirit to others. Thank you for this opportunity.
