Swing into Action on the "Countdown
to CARA" Campaign On Memorial
Day weekend, millions of Americans
will head outdoors to take advantage
of the recreational opportunities
made possible by conservation
funding programs contained in
the Conservation and Reinvestment
Act (CARA), including the Land
and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).
These programs have given Americans
places to do everything from camping
to canoeing, hiking or biking,
picnicking, playing ball, wildlife
viewing, or learning about our
shared cultural history.
Spread
the Word on Parks and Wildlife
NCYS allies did a great job of
letting members of the House know
that there is a strong and diverse
grassroots constituency for parks,
recreation, and wildlife that
is dedicated to permanent funding
for these vital programs. But,
we need to share that same message
to Members of the Senate. Join
parks and wildlife allies, including
conservation leaders, wildlife
activists, park directors and
advocates, recreation and youth
sports enthusiasts, sporting goods
and outdoor recreation industry
leaders, and other supporters
of CARA and LWCF by faxing the
following Memorial Day Alert to
your Senators. It's important
that they get this message before
they leave for their Memorial
Day recess, so we are asking that
you sign and fax the attached
form TODAY - Thursday, May 25.
Please
fax the attached Memorial Day
Fax to both of your senators and
ask at least 20 of your friends,
colleagues and family members
all over the country to do the
same. Also, send this as an email
to as many email listservs as
possible.

action below and find your Senators.
If our senator list does not have
a published fax number, call their
offices (via the Capitol Switchboard

their fax number.
