NCYS PARTNERS WITH AT PEAK SPORTS IN EFFORT TO REDUCE YOUTH SPORT INJURY The Best of Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Unite With Social Fitness App To Increase Performance, Decrease Injury
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Stuart, Florida (February 25, 2015). The National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) has gained another national partner in its quest for reducing injury in youth sports announcing a partnership with At Peak Sports.
At Peak is a youth sports social fitness app. The platform delivers age-, gender-, and sport-specific strength and conditioning exercises, and video-guided workouts that are designed by medical professionals to improve conditioning for youth athletes to prevent injuries. The app comes with exercise videos demonstrating proper exercise form and technique for youth sports, including soccer, lacrosse, football, basketball and baseball. The platform includes social networking features that allow athletes to communicate with teammates, upload photos, view sports-related video content and challenge each other in sports trivia contests. NCYS will collaborate with At Peak Sports to bring top-notch educational content to the At Peak platform.
"With At Peak everyone wins," said Sally S Johnson, Executive Director of the National Council of Youth Sports. Johnson continued, "Athletes get two sport specific workouts a week, interact with a pro athlete, and enjoy fun social activities and rewards. Parents get the peace of mind that their child is reducing the chance of a sports injury by 50% and they can track and encourage their child. Coaches benefit by getting more injury resistant players and can encourage their players in a fun and engaging fitness app. Administrators get an app that adds value for parents and can lower insurance premiums and deductibles."
Overall, the At Peak Sports platform addresses the growing need for better-conditioned youth athletes to prevent injury. Each year, $33 billion is spent on treating youth sports injuries and more than 20 million days of school are lost, research shows. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than half of those injuries are preventable.
"We are thrilled to be working with The National Council of Youth Sports and their Board of Directors who represent the most influential people in the world of youth sports," said Will Metzger, CEO and Founder of At Peak and a former collegiate athlete stated, "All of us involved in youth sports know how great sports are for kids. They are more likely to be physically fit and healthier adults. And the valuable lessons they learn from sports, like teamwork, discipline and resilience, benefit them for a lifetime. We know that the NCYS shares our vision of reducing injuries and keeping our kids actively participating in sports."
Discussing how the company got started, Metzger explained, "When my son was injured playing sports and I became aware of the youth sports injury epidemic. I discussed solutions with sports medicine professionals and we developed age, gender and sport specific athletic training exercises that have proven to be very beneficial in preventing injuries." Metzger continued, "We knew that we had to make the program fun and engaging for the kids. Because kids are so involved in social media, we include social features and virtual rewards as a great way for them to connect with each other and get rewards, while doing the exercises that will help keep them healthy and playing."
In addition to the NCYS partnership, At Peak Sports earlier this year announced a major partnership with the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association to provide the At Peak athletic performance and training app to all of ENYYSA's more than 120,000 members.
